Samenvatting
Laylee, a thirteen-year-old girl, lives in Whichwood, a very cold area. After her mother has passed and her father has gone crazy, Laylee remains as the last mordeshoor. This means that she has to wash dead bodies and send these to the hereafter. Laylee is losing her colour and realises she is slowly dying. One day, two strangers stand in front of her doorstep: Alice & Oliver. Alice has come to fulfill her task from the Furthermore. She is absolutely terrified with the work that she has to do, and Laylee is not so happy about her guests either. Will these two strangers be a good help or will they totally ruin everything?
Review
This book is part two of the Furthermore-series. Unforunately, I didn’t read the first part, which might have been more convenient. When I read other reviews of this book, it was shown almost everwhere that there were a lot of details in Furthermore, which I missed. If you are planning to read this book, I recommend you read Furthermore first.
Tahereh Mafi’s writing style is still so good. Though I wasn’t sucked into the story at first. Mafi is known for her beautiful descriptions. which was clearly stated in this book. I find this writing style very beautiful, just like in the Touching-Juliette series.
I think that this book is meant for slightly older readers. The book is about washing dead bodies, which is not that suitable for younger readers…
Conclusion
A book with a great writing style. I would recommend this book if you read Furthermore. I would also recommend this if you are a fan of Tahereh Mafi.
