Review

{Disclaimer: This book was given to me by Luitingh-Sijthoff in exchange for an honest review. This has not had a positive or negative effect on my review.}

I want to start off this review by thanking Luitingh-Sijthoff for giving me this book. When this book arrived in my mailbox, I started reading right away. I was very curious about Jennefer Mellink’s writing style, because I had never read one of her books before. I couldn’t wait to read another thriller.

The first few pages of this book make you very curious about the rest of the book. This makes you want to continue on reading. I found Jennefer Mellink’s writing style very hard to get used to. Each chapter was written from a different perspective, and at times this caused a lot of confusion for me.

While reading this book, almost every character in this book annoyed me. At one point I had a favourite, but then something happened that made me dislike that person. So I had to put the book away for a few days because I just wanted something positive to happen. I also thought the book got exciting very late. It only started to get exciting in the last 40 pages or so. In my opinion, this could have happened a little earlier.

The fun thing about thrillers is always guessing the culprit. When I was halfway through this book, I decided to bet on someone, and I turned out to be right! Somehow I always get this right when I read thrillers (I think this is because I read too much of them, haha). This book ends with an enormous plot twist that you don’t see coming at all – even I didn’t!

Conclusion

A thriller with a very unexpected ending. A must if you are also a fan of Mel Wallis de Vries and Chinouk Thijssen. Thanks again Luitingh-Sijthoff!
